The Rabbinical Centre of Europe works throughout the year for European Jews wherever they are and is currently preparing for the massive Mega Chanukah project, in which nearly 100,000 menorahs will be distributed among Jewish communities in Europe.
This project, now in its sixth year of spreading the light of Chanukah among Jewish communities in Europe, reaching even the smallest and most remote communities on the European continent through a complex logistical undertaking carried out by the BASAD organization from Belgium, headed by Rabbi Yehuda Reichman.
As part of the complex logistical operation, tens of thousands of menorahs are being transported, accompanied by multilingual pamphlets containing the Brachot and explanations about the holiday’s significance, with the packages reaching tens of thousands of Jewish homes across the continent to enable them to fulfill this important commandment.
Rabbi Yossi Bainhaker, RCE Vice President and project coordinator, reports that the demand grows year by year and encompasses communities across the continent.
Rabbi Arie Goldberg, RCE CEO, notes that the project is part of a series of projects conducted by the RCE throughout the year for the benefit of Jewish communities in Europe, such as the distribution of handmade Matzah, Purim gift baskets, and sets of the Arbah Minim. ” Particularly this year, when antisemitism has raised its head, with a little light we will push away the darkness with the help of the Almighty.” he said emotionally.
