120 European rabbis call to cease the use of Holocaust comparisons in order to describe regional political conflicts
Rabbis request to clarify in their letter that the Holocaust is the greatest tragedy in human history, and no government should use appropriate Holocaust terminology to describe this or any other political conflict.
The letter, signed by 120 European rabbis and addressed to the President of the State of Israel, Yitzchak Herzog, calls on the rabbis to exert their influence on the Armenian government to cease using Holocaust terminology to describe regional political conflicts.
The rabbis made it clear that they are apolitical and do not intend to express opinions related to this or any other conflict. In their letter, the rabbis request to emphasize that the Holocaust is the most significant tragedy in human history, and no government in the world should use appropriate Holocaust terminology to describe this or any other conflict. This action constitutes disrespect to the Holocaust and the entire Jewish people who still bear this terrible burden, and it hinders efforts the fight against anti-Semitism, which unfortunately continues to raise its ugly head still today.
