RCE initiated a country wide inspection of MIkvas last week. Harav Hahgaon Yehuda Leib Mintzberg, the renowned Mikva supervisor, visited six different Jewish European communities for the purpose of ensuring the Kashrus of the Mikvas, if in need of repair.

Rabbi Mintzberg patrolled the communities in Warsaw, Poland, Hanover, Germany, Brussels, and Antwerp, Belgium Vienna Austria and Zareb Croatia. Every Mikva was checked thoroughly, literally from top to bottom, including the irrigation cavities and the cleanliness of the rain water and all the other details. A point of our attention goes to the fact that Rabbi Mintzberg oversees 64 Mikvas supported and supervised by the RCE in the past few years.

It is well known that Mikvas must be examined and maintained as a routine. RCE took upon the burden of ensuring the inspections as part of its responsibilities, including the possible necessity of repairs and renovations complying with laws of purity.

While overseeing the mikva in Zagreb, the chambers were filled with water, signifying a kosher lemihadrin  Mikva  for the first time in Croatia since the Holocaust. The’Rama’ foundation chairmen Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Waldman considerably supported the building of the Mikva in cooperation with RCE. The inauguration will be in a few weeks.

RCE Chairman Rabbi Menachem Margolin said that the countrywide Mikva inspection is just one of the numerous activities concerning Mikvas. At the present we are involved in establishing additional MIkvas in multiple European cities. The support reflects consultations, Halachic guidance, and financial assistance.

Director General of RCE Rabbi Arie Goldberg stated that the Mikva overseeing is part of RCE’s day and night developing efforts in providing aid to the Rabbis and their communities to strengthen the Jewish identity in Europe as far as Rabbinical, educational  issues, increasing the Tahara and the coaching the Rabbis.

RCE Deputy Director-General Rabbi Yosef Bainhaker, the project coordinator, indicated that throughout the year of תשע”ט  RCE has plans of supporting 6 additional Mikvas, providing assistance throughout the entire planning and building. He added that Rabbi Mintzberg will add further inspections around Europe due to the surging demand of many European Communities.
